FIGUEIRA DA FOZ “4ALL”
The city of Figueira da Foz is located on the Portuguese Atlantic coast, in the center of the country. It is 180 Km away from Lisbon, 120 Km away from Oporto and 40 Km away from Coimbra. Being one of the main municipalities, it is located at the mouth of the Mondego River and it is a coastal city with a rich history, culture and traditions. It is the second biggest municipality in the District of Coimbra.
The sun and the beach are some of its main touristic resources. With an extension of 4 Km of golden thin sand and sea, they provide you with everything for some amazing and relaxing vacation.
Considered by many as the “Queen of the Silver Coast” due to its extensive beaches, it sees in the tourism one of its main economic resources. It is also considered one of the main touristic spots in the country. It has one of the biggest casinos in Portugal, it is surrounded by the sea, the Atlantic Ocean, the Mondego river and a group of hills known as Serra da Boa Viagem.

Its natural conditions invite people to practice several sports. Other than the World and European Championships of sports such as Beach Soccer, Surf and Beach Rugby which take place here, there are also some sports that are practised specially during the Summer such as Windsurf, Swimming and Rowing, among others. We should also take notice that the mouth of the Mondego river provides people with excellent conditions to fish, practise diving and go on boat rides. Some of the many charms of Figueira da Foz include things like the beach and its striped wooden bars and lounges and its extension of white soft sand. Known as “Praia da Claridade”, this vast extent of sand was given preference by the members of the upper class in the 19th century. Figueira da Foz can also be proud of its multiple green areas which are extremely inviting for pleasant walks. It is the case of places like “Abadias” park, the area by the river, Serra da Boa Viagem, the lakes in Quiaios and Bom Sucesso (Lagoas de Quiaios e Bom Sucesso).

There is an area known as “Marginal” which is facing both the river and the sea, about 10 Km long, that allows people to go for long walks or ride their bicycles by using the cycling tracks that go along the margins of the Mondego River and Atlantic Ocean. People who practise sports find in these tracks the ideal place to practise running. There are specific areas located on the beach for the practise of team sports such as basketball, soccer, tennis and volleyball.
